France Weather
Metropolitan France lies in the northern temperate
climate zone, but the country experiences a mix of different climatic
conditions due to geography:
- Western parts of Metropolitan France generally
have an oceanic climate, with mild Winters, cool Summers, and high rainfall.
- Inland areas tend towards a more continental climate, with colder
Winters, and hotter Summers.
- Southeastern parts of the country generally experience a Mediterranean
climate.
- France also contains many high mountains, including
parts of the Alps. The climate in these mountaineous regions is generally
alpine, with temperatures below freezing for much of the year, and snow
on the ground for six months or more.
